Practical information for your visit.

How appointments work at Robin's office, and answers to the most common questions about scheduling, payment, and transitioning your care from another provider.

Before your visit

The fastest way to schedule is to email Robin directly at robin@robinblackwhcnp.com, or use the appointment request form. Most patients hear back the same day, often within a couple of hours. Robin will confirm a time, send any intake paperwork, and answer your initial questions by email.

If you're transitioning from another provider, ask their office to fax your records to 949.264.2801. Pap, biopsy, and HPV test history are the most useful documents to have on hand before your first visit. If you're already on a contraception or other prescription regimen, mention it in your initial email so Robin can review whether to continue or adjust.

When you arrive

Robin's office is inside Corner Health Urgent Care at 2077 Harbor Blvd, Suite 100, Costa Mesa. There's a parking lot — not just street parking — and the space was extensively remodeled in 2025, with a quiet consulting area separate from the main urgent-care flow.

During your visit

Every first visit starts with a conversation. Robin will sit down with you (still fully clothed) to go over what brings you in, your history, current concerns, and what you're hoping to leave the visit with. This part typically takes 15–30 minutes — and unlike many practices, isn't rushed.

If a physical exam is part of the visit

Robin will explain each step before performing it.

If you're here for a colposcopy

Colposcopy is the close-up exam done after an abnormal Pap. It uses a magnifying scope (the colposcope) that does not enter your body — it sits a few inches away. The cervical view is similar to a Pap exam, just longer and more careful.

If a biopsy is needed, Robin uses Histologics SoftBiopsy — a soft, fabric-based device rather than the traditional sharp forceps used in many practices. Most patients describe a brief pinch or cramp, noticeably less uncomfortable than expected. The full appointment is usually 30–45 minutes, and ibuprofen 30–60 minutes beforehand can help with cramping.

After your visit

Lab and biopsy results typically come back within a week. Robin will email or call you with results — you don't need to chase her down. You can also check lab results yourself any time on the LabCorp patient portal.

Follow-up is best by email. Robin replies fast, including some evenings and weekends, and will arrange a phone call if that's more useful.
